"Golden Retrievers" is our specialty

For the love of Goldens

Best Friends Boarding specializes in boarding Golden Retrievers. We have over 12 years of experience caring for this particular breed and developing our kennels to give Goldens the best of care. We love this breed and are also active volunteers with Golden Rescue.

Dog breeds that we can not accept

Our focus and experience caring for Golden Retrievers requires us to restrict particular breeds from our kennels. We understand Goldens and the following breeds have become a concern for us and the safety and well being of our boarders. For this reason we are sorry we do not accept the following breeds under any circumstances:

  • Akitas
  • Bouviers
  • Doberman Pinchers
  • German Shepherds
  • Pit Bulls
  • Rottweilers
  • Staffordshire Terriers
  • Shar Pei
  • Chow Chow

What to bring for your dog's

stay at Best Friends Boarding

Leashes and Collars

For the safety of all our boarders, please have your dog on a leash when you arrive. Please also make sure your dog is wearing a flat collar. We request that you do not bring or leave your dog with a choke/chain collar.

Food

Please supply us with enough of your dog's preferred food to last their entire stay with us. If possible bring your dog's food in a hard container. Please also bring any medication if applicable. We will feed your dogs what you feed them at home with the exception of "Raw diets" for safety reasons.

Vaccinations

Please bring proof of the following Required Vaccinations:

  • Rabies
  • DA2PCPV
  • Bordetella  (prevention for Kennel Cough)

Please Note: If your dog has not had the Bordetella vaccine or is due, the vaccine MUST be administered a minimum of 10 days prior to boarding at Best Friends Boarding regardless of whether or not your dog has had the vaccine in the past.

Bed or Blanket

Please ensure your dog's bed or blanket is clean.

Toys

Bring a couple of their favourites!

Treats

Please Note: For safety and hygiene we do not allow bones, pigs ears, cattle hooves and rawhide.
Since many dogs have allergies we only give the treats that you bring with you. For your dogs health please bring treats that your dog is used to eating. Kongs are great with peanut butter, carrots and small treats!
